PR Council - March Meeting
Announcement
New Jersey State
Police Communications Representative
to address March 31st. PR Council
Luncheon
“Money
Laundering Arrests Nets $1.6
Million”…”NJ State Troopers Offer Safety
Tips for Cold Weather Boating”…”NJ State
Troopers Seize $127,000 of
Hallucinogenic Drug on Turnpike ”…”Money
Laundering Arrests Nets $1.6 Million.”
These are among the gripping headlines
that often appear in New Jersey’s
newspapers, are heard on the radio and
reported on television. If you wonder
who writes these press releases for the
New Jersey State Police, you will get a
glimpse when Sgt. Julian Castellanos,
Office of Public Information, Division
Headquarters, West Trenton, meets with
the Public Relations Council at our
March meeting at
The Palm-Atlantic City.
Sgt. Castellanos will also report on the State Police’s
aggressive efforts on diversifying its
ranks from recruiting blacks and
Hispanics to women and gays as it
confronts the ever-changing images in
our society. It will be an inside
glimpse on how the state police handles
communications, especially in a crisis.
They like others in law enforcement,
where in the troughs of efforts of
rescue from 911 to the recent crash of
an airliner in the Hudson River.
This will be one of our more eye-opening lunch
meetings. Take notes and bring back some
tips on crisis communications, unique
recruiting efforts and community
outreach. You may also get some tips on
writing pithy press releases.
